IMPORTANT
You must apply to the tribunal chairman for leave to appeal before you fill in any forms (unless your case involves a tax credit penalty case or a child trust fund penalty case). To apply for leave to appeal to the chairman, write a letter to the clerk to the tribunal. The clerk's contact details are available on the SSCSA website.
Open the order of events flow chart below for a brief description of what happens during an appeal.
This leaflet describes what steps you need to take to appeal to a Commissioner from a decision given by an Appeals Service tribunal once you have asked the tribunal chairman for leave (permission) to appeal. It explains what will happen to an appeal to the Commissioner once it has been made. It also lists the stages that take place before the Commissioner decides an appeal.
