This page applies if you wish to appeal from another tribunal to the Upper Tribunal on a point of law.
If you wish to challenge the decision of a First-tier Tribunal there are various steps that you must have taken at that tribunal before you can appeal to the Upper Tribunal. These will have been explained by the First-tier Tribunal office in the information sent with the decision notice.
This important information is also available on the First-tier Tribunal website by selecting the relevant jurisdiction below. These links will take you to the relevant page of the individual jurisdiction and sets out what appeal rights there may be against the First-tier Tribunal’s decision and how you can pursue these:
Please note that onward appeal rights from the Charity Tribunal are heard in the Finance and Chancery Chamber of the Upper Tribunal.
When you have asked a First-tier Judge for permission to appeal, the appeal forms and a series of leaflets explaining the process for making an application to a Judge in the Administrative Appeals Chamber of the Upper Tribunal can be found on our Forms and guidance page.
The leaflets describe in detail the steps you need to take to appeal to the Upper Tribunal against a decision given by the First-tier Tribunal.
If you have any questions regarding the process for appealing to the Administrative Appeals Chamber, please contact the relevant administrative office.
